Youth in the city working towards a green goal! A group of young and energetic college students from Toc-H engineering college is all set to do their bit to prevent climate change. Their sole mission is to create awareness on climate change which is something that affects you and me. They are part of the Young Indians college network and have planned an awareness campaign on the importance of ‘carbon 350 ppm’. Did I mention at present, the carbon level is 387 which is not at all a good sign. Moreover it is much above the safe limit. The students are aware of the fact that its their time to do their bit, which is the best strategy to spread the message in each household.
On October 24 – the Global Day for Climate Action, a one-day programme will be organized by these students at durbar Hall Ground. Students from in and around the city can involve in. A count of almost 100 students from various colleges will be taking part in the programme holding placards and split in various directions, converging at the same time, sporting the Indian tri-colours. There will be a marathon and cycle rally, also a painting exhibition for school students, slogan writing competition, stalls on green related products and street plays. The organizers are planning to conduct the programme in a massive way, interacting directly with student groups from various colleges to join. They have also identified 50 simple things that people can do at home to cut carbon emission levels. Using CFL lamps, checking out energy labels while buying appliances and keeping an energy audit at home are some of the things that every household can do. So Kochiites, start your contribution now and support the global cause.
