World Heart Day celebrated in Kochi

World Heart day was celebrated in the city on Saturday. A variety for programmes was held as part of the celebration. A medical exhibition jointly organized by Cardiological society of India (Kerala Chapter) and Heart Care Foundation was held at Pappali Hall in St Albert’s College. The exhibition demonstrated how bypass surgery and angioplasty are done. Video-recoded bypass surgery, angioplasty and the first heart transplant in the State were televised. Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital held a musical evening, ‘Hrudayaraga Sandhya’ at Durbar Hall Ground on Saturday evening as part of its Heart Day celebrations. Free blood tests, risk assessment camps and panel discussions were held as part of the programmes here on Sunday. Chief Justice of Kerala S.R. Bannurmath was the chief guest of the valedictory function in the evening. The sole intention of the World Heart Day celebrations was to spread the message that ‘a stress-free life is best for the heart.’
