The traffic set up in the Vallarpadam road is in such a situation that it is posing a high risk to the pedestrians as well as the vehicle owners who use this area for transportation. Traffic problems related to Vallarpadam container terminal road will be solved soon as per the decision taken in the meeting in the presence of minister V.K. Ibrahimkunju.
In regard with this, the transportation in the bridge at Kalamaserry will be blocked. The service of police will be enacted at the new road. This service will prevent parking beside road. The signal system will be modified such that pedestrians will also be benefited with it. The need of falcon infrastructure to avoid the centre median and enable direct entry of vehicles was not taken into account as it can cause accidents. If needed, the vehicles going out of the falcon infrastructure can take a U-turn from the wide gate as per the requirement.
It was also decided that the container lorries from the terminal going to the IAC area will have to get in to the Service road first, pass through the signal system and then enter the falcon infrastructure. In order to study the problems in the areas of Kalamassery and Eloor, the district collector P.I. Sheik Pareeth has formed a seven membered squad also. This squad can ensure the citizens that from now onwards the traffic in the Vallarpadam road and the nearby areas will be controlled so that we can travel in these places without hesitation unlike before.Give away your views about this through our comments column.
