Tackling terror on the roads of Kochi

kochi trafficCity is under the threat of growing number of bus accidents. Day by day, the number is increasing and this issue has to be resolved as soon as possible. Seriously, traveling in Kochi is at risk; why traveling…walking on the footpath is enough for an accident. We have to come up with a lasting solution rather than single-pronged ones. There should be a permanent set-up to monitor the traffic in the city. Seems that all the measures taken till now have produced no effect. Everything turned out to be drawing lines in water. The nasty private bus drivers are full on with their deeds. Bus workers work at least 14 hours a day without any rest. Is it like no rest makes these drivers go mad?

The trips of all buses should be rescheduled and doing so it would bring down the number of accidents as well as each bus would get more running time. Did I mention the running time of private buses is three minutes per km. No wonder the accidents occur very often. Adequate police personnel should be deployed in the city to regulate traffic. The police keep vigil only for a couple of days and then the city is back to the old state. Why saying more…recently an accident happened at Kaloor junction right in front of the traffic police. What does this how? Red killers aren’t afraid of anyone and moreover they go on strike for their rights. More KSRTC buses must be introduced and there should be adequate parking slots too. Also the police must always keep a strict vigil. Initiating criminal procedures against bus owners will help to curb accidents to some extent. Cases should be registered on owners and erring bus workers as well.

In short, the initiatives to be taken are

  1. Cut down trips of private buses so that each bus will get more running time
  2. Introduce more KSRTC buses
  3. Register cases against bus owners along with the workers
  4. Cops should keep a strict vigil
