Renovated Fine Arts Hall in Kochi to be inaugurated!
Inauguration of the renovated Fine Arts hall on September 29 by renowned singer Dr. K. J Yesudas! The Hall is a culturescape landmark of the city. A silent witness to its own history, closely linked to the history of maestros, connoisseurs and lovers of fine arts, its soul is intact, upholding the virtues and humaneness that each and every artist stamped on it. Many classic shows and masterpieces by many great personalities across the globe had been staged here. It has entertained relaxed and taken people to sublime heights. Now the Hall has got a whole new look from acoustics and lighting to the flooring and stage set-up. The office, outer areas and toilets too have undergone a makeover. The whole setup cost nearly Rs. 40 lakh and everything happened due to the generous donation from the members and the public.
It would certainly be a different experience for the spectators, audience and performers. Capacity is still the same, 800 can be accommodated in the hall and 400 on the balcony. The Hall came into being in 1971 and ever since it has promoted fine arts in a big way. The government has declared the Hall as regular theatre where a couple of drama festivals and other programmes were organized, offering a cultural feast for the people. The Hall had to witness the best of times and worst of times as well but at the end of the day, it was a smooth going – history says it all!
