Parking : yet Another Issue for Cochin

Over the years we all were mostly worried about our bad roads and unorganized traffic.  Parking was also a concern in the city premises but still there wasn’t a big deal with it. But it seems like more issues are on the Way.

Today Morning InfoPark kochi saw some real drama regarding the parking issue. The issue was with the Leela infopark management and the Employees working in various companies in Leela InfoPark. Leela InfoPark has offices of some Big Companies like IBS, BlueLabs, OPI, Chayowo (gamezindia), Vanilla Networks, Tata TeleServices etc..

Till Yesterday There was no issues raised from the Leela infopark authorities regarding Parking of 2 wheelers inside the Leela InfoPark Campus. The Bikes rested in shade without any trouble till yesterday. But Today Morning All of a sudden Security people stopped all the 2 wheelers and asked them to Park it outside Infopark on the Road Side.  Everyone was frustrated on hearing this. There had been many instances of Petrol Theft and vehicle theft over the infopark area ever since the infopark started.  and now the employees are asked to park it outside without any cover from the sun , rain, Dust and most importantly Thieves.

The Reason the Authorities gave for that decision is that they don’t have enough space for fire engines to move freely if a fire hazard occurs.   Enough Parking Space and Fire extinguish facilities are some basic criteria every commercial building should be having and more importantly a building like that of InfoPark should  make Sure these facilities should be proper in place. But leela infopark even lacks toilet paper most of the times. They Could have easily solved the issue by rearranging the parking of Bikes properly. But they doesn’t look like they have the brains to do that.

Comparing the facilities  proposed and was made available initially and what is available today I will have to say all we are doing is a SHOW OFF in the name of InfoPark and SmartCity

   that’s sad.there is a step motherly treatment towards 2 wheeler riders as if We are Poor Souls who dice with death every day!.WTF?

   The lady in the Pink Dress standing near the Car in second photo is the Operations Manager of leela infopark.. she is ex-military (thats what everyone says) and thinks infopark is another military camp.

   There’s a saying in malayalam “Soochi kondu edukkendathu Thoomba kondu edukkunnu”. Thats what exactly happend in Leela y’day. Way for fire engines can be easily met by deploying a security staff for few days to control the parking of two wheelers. Also, put some markings and borderlines in the parking floor to give guidance to the bike owners.
