Motherjane – Unplugged and Live in Concert at Cochin
Motherjane, one of the biggest bands in the Indian rock music scenario, is performing live and unplugged in tribute of great artist and cartoonist Thomas. The event will be a fund raiser for Sampoorna special school. The concert will take place on the 19th of August at the IMA hall, which is the hub of cultural activities inside the city of Ernakulam. The Sampoorna Special School, headed by noted media person K.M.Roy, is the organiser of the event. Motherjane hopes to be able to raise funds for the school which is a sanctified institution for Children with Special Needs.
The concert is titled ‘An Ode to Life ‘. A tribute to K.P. Thomas, better known as Cartoonist Thomas, has been the forerunner in the area of cartooning in Kerala. His humour and wit have touched a generation of Keralites through his creations ‘Veekshana Visesham’ and ‘Kunju Kurup’ . Not one to be limited to just one area of art, he made his mark in other arenas likeadvertising and feature films. His noted films are ‘Manimuzhakkam’, which won the National and State awards for Best Film in 1977 and ‘Rasaleela’, which was Kamal Haasan’s debut in Malayalam cinema. This Motherjane concert is being organized to reacquaint society with the life and work of this maestro. A book release is also planned to coincide with this event.
The band consists of Suraj Mani (Vocalist), Baiju Dharmajan (Lead Guitar), John Thomas (Drums), Clyde Rozario (Bass) and Deepu Sasidharan (Rhythm Guitar). Honors and awards from inside and outside the country made them the band who defines Indian Rock.
