Minicoy islanders from the tiny island of Minicoy in Lakshadweep conducted Minicoy Festival at David Hall in Fort Kochi .this was part of the conservation enterprise and livelihood programs In Minicoy. The festival was conducted under the aegis of the Centre for Action Research on Environment Science and Society (CARESS), Maliku Development Society, Maliku Hikimas Producers Society and the CGH Earth group of hotels.
The festival was window to the cultural world of Minicoy showcasing their food products, cuisines , handicrafts and other cultural components. Traditional cuisines such as Rie Riha (red fish curry), Kavaabu (kebab), Teluli Mas (fried fish), Tora Riha (pichinga curry), Burubo Riha (pumpkin curry), Huli Bashi, (sour brinjal), Kirudhiya (coconut milk curry), Garudhiya (fish soup kudhi) Handoo bai (rice), Faratta (paratha) Fathafoli (rice/maida appam), Keenathu and Haalifoli were presented to the visitors. Display of handicrafts including the snake boat Jahaadhoani was also show cased.
