LuLu Shopping Mall Cochin – Things You Never Knew!
Lulu International Shopping Mall, Edapally, Cochin. I know this is no longer a New news for anyone at Cochin but I think not all of the people have heard about the Features offered by the EMKE Group for Keralites.
The Location of this mall is the meeting of three Highways in Edapally.
EMKE Group is developing the Mall for 16 acres of land with 2Million Sq Ft spending about 120 Crore and is said to be the Biggest in India!!!
Yusuffali MA, Managing Director of the Shopping Mall said, “This is our dream project and our plan is not to build just a shopping mall but a landmark destination for both residents & tourists alike. The facilities, brands, services, architecture, amenities, etc. will be comparable to the best in the world. Our more than 4 decades of experience in the same business is sure to stand us in good stead in this project.”
The Mall consists of 300 National and International brands of fashion, jewellery, electronics, lifestyle, home furnishing, furniture and accessories, book shops, footwear etc. Not only this.. Now comes the real fun… 12 Screen Multiplex, 6 Fine Restaurant, 50,000 sq ft food court with 18 outlets & Coffee shops and Family amusement center with bowling alley. Among these the best feature is that it consists of a Parking space for more than 3000 vehicle. Isn’t that a Cool one.
It also have a 300 Room Five star hotel to be managed by Marriot Hotels.

on July 16th, 2009Super. The title sounds like some dark deeds are being done behind the high walls of Lulu, though.

on July 16th, 2009Ofcourse, Emke group is making a retail legend in Kerala. But I wish to bring to the notice of the author, that its NOT THE LARGEST MALL IN INDIA. Because the current Largest Mall in India- The Ambi Mall in Gurgaon in New Delhi itself if nearly 2 times bigger than what Lulu Mall is going to be. Moreover DLF has announced its most prestigious project- The Mall of India, which is going to be world’s 3rd largest and India’s largest with 45 lakh sq, exclusively for Mall itself.
Pls note, its not 2 million sq, it just 1.5 million sq feet for out of which only less than 0.63 million Sq is used for mall. The remaining is for Hotel. These facts needs to be checked, before making unnessecary claims, that creates false pride among our community…..

on July 16th, 2009EMKE group has claimed it as the biggest shopping mall in INDIA.
I dint mention its the LARGEST its the BIGGEST ok..
FOr ur information AMBI mall is just 1.8mn Sq ft and this is 2mn sq ft. and did ya know they are taking more land for their construction.
If u don’t believe u can Cross Check the informations i’ve written with the LULU’s Official website ok
Me too agree with Arun. Its not the largest in India. In Gurgaon from one end of the mall to another end is almost 1km.
on July 17th, 2009Dear Smilu,
I didn’t mean to find any fault in your mail, just to bring actual facts. Lulu’s website is not professional and I don’t even think they have brought any update ever since they designed originally. Because now even they have a different logo, rather than what we in the site. From what I know thro’ their GM who is our family friend, I understand its just 1.5 M sqft, out of which its just 0.63 m sqft for its Mall. Now a days its fashion for many of the Mall designers to claim the entire structure’s sq ft as Mall size, to claim certain positions. We must know, Hotels within Mall is all together a separte entity and just like any other independent structure.
0.63 million, simply means 6.3 lakh sq ft. The current largest Mall Grande Souk is 5.2 Lakh sqft. So its just a slightly larger than current largest mall.
Defintely we must be proud to have a Mega size Mall in our city. But some claims made by developers should be blindly believed and reported in popular forums, so as it would invite others to argue against such grand projects.

ah….one with insider information on LULU mall and the other a normal citizen with information from the official portal…..battle royale
on July 18th, 2009Perhaps, it may be a marketing gimmick for the Lulu group, to convince retail majors…… May be due to recession, they might have used the word 2 M Sqft as a marketing tool, to differeninate its project from other projects….. Anyway, its very clear from our friend, that the Mall size would not exceed anyway beyond 6 lakh sqft. Sometimes they may plan to leave some provisions for futurue build up, in a phased manner. Perhaps, they might be claiming the entire project together, rather than what we are going to have now………….

on July 19th, 2009Its such a nice thing coz keralites have never experienced anything as huge as this:) but we kochiites must also welcome the traffic snarls associated with it. Wonderful projects like this is marred by the umpteen number of traffic jams that one has to go through to reach the next happening destination in cochin.Wish the authorities would do something abt it
on July 22nd, 2009@Soli That is a major issue now at Cochin. But here in Lulu they have made a Parking facility as mentioned in the Post. So, It makes us happy that no one leaves their vehicle in the side roads to make a Big traffic jam as seen here at MG Road and near Oberon Mall… I think so. But rest we can see directly after the Inauguration.
on July 28th, 2009wen does this open..any approx date ?..looking forward to watch my first multiplex film in kerala..are there any mplexes coming up elsewhere ?

on October 25th, 2009Its really a shame that the name of the company which is turning this dream into a reality. Its not mentioned anywhere. Though the prime contractor Shapoorji Pallonji & Co.Ltd is a media shy company, but still its quality reflects from the Taj hotels Mumbai which stands still even after 26/11
on November 13th, 2009Hi,
Can anyone tell me who the GM is?
on November 24th, 2009….this wonder will exemplifies how a simple man will get great acheivments..we are still waiting to see this wonder of lulu, and undoubtedly become another crown to atkins…
on January 5th, 2010ya john i know who is the GM for this project
on February 18th, 2010the mall of India in Gurgon by dlf is 45 lakh sq feet ,but company started its planning years back but still the work is stuck in its early stages itself which according to the company is design error;no surety for India mall;then its lulu ;lulu is 25 lakh sq feet only for shopping and entertainment ,the marriot hotel in it +aviation center is much greater than 20 lakh sq feet + the’ve got a big amusement water theme park in it! lulu in it has got indias first and only ice skating rig;
on April 7th, 2010dlf MOI is just build for a name sake as 45 lakh is built with just 1500 crore rs ;but lulu which is 25 lakh sq feet is built with 1500 crore rs ,so IM sure that ‘the world will come to kochi to shop’.
Some cranky guys from Kochi has been blurting out nonsense fact about Lulu shopping mall being the largest mall in south asia. This is utter bull shit! The largest mall in India & south Asia will be Mall of India tht covers an area of 4.5 million sqft. It is being completed at the Delhi- Gurgaon border.Remember Lulu is only 2 million sq ft.Lulu will not be the biggest in Kerala as well. Trivandrum plaza with 2.2 million sq ft set to complete by 2012 will d biggest mall in Kerala, unless something else will come up in the mean time. And…the biggest mall in Asia is Mall of Asia in Pasay, Philipines.
on April 14th, 2010Hello Mr. Jothish.
on April 21st, 2010One thing you must understand is that all these articles are from the official portal, and when they started it there where no other malls with these specifications. Now it may be different. Tomorrow there may be a mall greater than Trivandrum plaza too somewhere in kerala. These topics are not to be a fight between locations.. ok
Awaiting it’s opening .It be great to shop in the mall

on July 4th, 2011Well i’m proud to be born in Kochi. It’s a good place to live and now getting better with malls, smart city, metro rail, etc. I believe LuLu mall in Kochi will the biggest in south India and one of the biggest in India. I know its nothing compared to biggest mall in world, Dubai mall which is unimaginably over 1 sq.km. But still its the best in Kerala and just 30 mins away from me during rush hour. Anyways, I was waiting for new brands to come up here in Kochi. New tastes and more to select over the best. Hmm, I better start getting more concerned about my financial set up first…. =)
