Kochi-Doha ship service re-launch mooted!

As the ferry connectivity between Kochi and Colombo will be resuming shortly, Royal Group of Companies is planning to re-launch the ship service between Kochi and Doha. The company operated such a service years ago and will consider re-launching it if the Cochin Port Trust sets up a cruise terminal with perpendicular berthing facility.
Royal Group Chairman Mr. Tissin Thachankary said that at present, the port has only parallel berthing facility and it will be tough for a cruise ship with rear opening facility to unload goods at parallel berths. However, the unloading of goods at the Cochin Port was time-consuming as it takes almost seven days. And so, we can expect a re-launch of the service if the port provides the necessary facilities.
