Green Signal for Kochi Metro Rail

20051224013101011Finally, the much awaited Kochi Metro Rail Project planning to take off! It is said that the metro project for Kochi would be taken up for sanction soon. The Planning Commission has finally given the green signal to the Metro rail project, after a long and hefty persuasion by the Ministry of Urban Development. The Ministry has decided to include 28 cities with a population of five lakh. Kozhikode set will be figured in the expanded Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) project.

During a press conference, Union Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy announced that the metro rail project has been included in the 100-day programme of the Ministry of Urban Development. This press conference was held to unveil the 100 day-action plan while the Ministry’s action plan would be revealed in the coming 100 days. The project is expected to be completed within 3 years at the most. The face of Kochi city is finally going to have a new change and if everything goes well, cochinites will soon be traveling around in the metro rail.

    i dont know what our govt. and other authorites are doing for ths much awaited project…all pepole who living in cochin they want to make there dream reality…i hope at lest in dis proj.there wont b any curruption and messy statements…
