Exhibition of cartoons on Tibet issue in Cochin

Kashi art gallery is organising an exhibition on selected cartoons on the Tibet issue (1950-2005) and the tumultuous Indo-Chinese relations by renowned Indian cartoonists. The selected cartoons are from some of known Indian cartoonists – Shankar, Ranga, OV Vijayan, RK Laxman, Ravi Shankar, Mario Miranda, Rajinder Puri, Prriya Raj, Yesudasan, Nanda Soobben, Abe Gowda, Kaak, Madhu Omalloor, Balu, Thommy, Ponnappa, Morparia and Prakash Shetty. The introduction and text of the ‘Indian Cartoonists on Tibet’ are by Claude Arpi, Tibet expert, who has authored several books on Tibet.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by renowned cartoonist Yesudasan at the Kashi Art Cafe, Burgher Street , Fort Kochi on Sunday, August 29 at 6pm.

Following the cartoon exhibition inauguration, the  winner of the Silver Conch Award at the 11th Mumbai International Film Festival and the Best Documentary at Trivandrum International Documentary Festival, “The Sun Behind the Clouds: Tibet’s Struggle for Freedom”  will be presented. “The Sun Behind the Clouds: Tibet’s Struggle for Freedom” provides a two-sided view of the complex political and social dynamics within and outside Tibet.
