Though the city police is moderately more polite to the citizens (excluding the long haired teenagers), the recent tragic death of senior Central Excise official Umesh will win them no friends.

Umesh was driving to Kakkanad when he reportedly developed giddiness and met with an accident. The police who initially thought he was driving under the influence of alcohol and took him to the station where he vomited twice. It was only after his wife who contacted him after 3 hours told the police over phone that he did not drink and that he was suffering from hypertension that the officials took some action.

Though he was taken to the hospital soon after, he did not survive.

This is a serious laxity from the part of the police department. I cannot express the outrage in my heart. A clear case of negligence on the part of the police.

Can the friends of the citizens afford to be so stupid?
