The national level exhibition of rural products, titled Cochin Saras, organised jointly by the Rural Development Ministry and the Ernakulam District Panchayat was inaugurated today by Health Minister P K Sreemathi.in a function held at the Ernakulathappan Ground. The event was presided by Dominic Presentation MLA and the Mayor Mercy Williams was the chief guest.
Products from the villages of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tripura, Pondichery and Chattisgarh will be on display at the exhibition. The alaramapuram handloom, Aranmula Kannadi, bronze utensils from Mannar, coir products from Alappuzha, spices from Idukki, Jaggery from Marayoor, turmeric from Wayanad, ayurveda compounds, products of Marari Self Help Group, Chendamangalam Handloom, medicinal products from Patyam and Pokkali rice will be on the display.
There are be 180 stalls, including handicrafts, bamboo products, readymade garments, pickles, sandals, mosquito nets, flower vase, carpets and cloth bags at the exhibition to be held at the Ernakulathappan ground.
