Schedule your appointment and get your tokens by just sending SMS from your mobile phone. EatherWay, a software developed by Alignminds Technologies, Kochi will enable doctors and patients to communicate with each other 24X7. EatherWay, an integration of three communication media – SMS, internet and telephony, acts as a platform to send and receive text messages and an automated system to receive and respond to voice calls. The users can choose the medium with which they are comfortable with as the software provides enormous flexibility.

Doctors need to subscribe to EatherWay either by registering online or with the help of the solution consultants in order to avail these services. They will be provided with an ID code after registering. Patients can register to this software either by online or by sending a mobile text message. They can search for doctors and book their appointments. The format for sending SMS is (dr,<space>doctor id <space>date). The patient will then receive the date, time and token number by SMS. If the doctor is not available, then you’ll be getting the next available dates through SMS. Appointments can be fixed either by using automated telephony by dialing 0484-4116070 or by logging onto www.eatherway.com. You’ll be provided with necessary assistance and information like the ID of the doctor and SMS formats for booking or cancellig appointments. 150 doctors have already registered with EatherWay. So next time, when you need a doctor, appointment with your doctor is just an SMS away.

Use “Eucalyptus Oil (Nilgiri Oil)” drops on handkerchiefs n masks as a preventive measure against swine flu – National Institute of Virology (NIV). Helpline – 22029070 / Kasturba Hospital – 022-23083901…

Swine flu in India is spreading like wildfire, taking the toll to Fifteen. Officials say there are currently more than 800 cases of the H1N1 flu strain in India. Governments from all around the world are finding ways to combat this deadly disease. So what can you do to protect yourself? Stay calm and practice these 10 effective prevention tips.

1. Wash your hands frequently

Use the antibacterial soaps to cleanse your hands. Wash them often, at least 15 seconds and rinse with running water.

2. Get enough sleep

Try to get 8 hours of good sleep every night to keep your immune system in top flu-fighting shape.

3. Keep hydrated

Drink 8 to10 glasses of water each day to flush toxins from your system and maintain good moisture and mucous production in your sinuses.

4. Boost your immune system

Keeping your body strong, nourished, and ready to fight infection is important in flu prevention. So stick with whole grains, colorful vegetables, and vitamin-rich fruits.

5. Keep informed

The government is taking necessary steps to prevent the pandemic and periodically release guidelines to keep the pandemic away. Please make sure to keep up to date on the information and act in a calm manner.

6. Avoid alcohol

Apart from being a mood depressant, alcohol is an immune suppressant that can actually decrease your resistance to viral infections like swine flu. So stay away from alcoholic drinks so that your immune system may be strong.

7. Be physically active

Moderate exercise can support the immune system by increasing circulation and oxygenating the body. For example brisk walking for 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week will significantly perk up your immunity.

8. Keep away from sick people

Flu virus spreads when particles dispersed into the air through a cough or sneeze reach someone else’s nose. So if you have to be around someone who is sick, try to stay a few feet away from them and especially, avoid physical contact.

9. Know when to get help

Consult your doctor if you have a cough and fever and follow their instructions, including taking medicine as prescribed.

10. Avoid crowded areas

Try to avoid unnecessary trips outside. Moreover, avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.

Generally, following Symptoms are observed in Swine Flu patients

• Fever

• Sore Throat

• Cough

• Body ache

• Headache

• Chills

• Fatigue

• Diarrhea

• Vomiting

Swine Flu is highly contagious disease. As a directive from Government authorities, anyone showing the symptoms should get himself/herself immediately checked at the hospitals mentioned in the document appended.

First,it was restricted to just the female population doing this..now the men follow suit too! Sure is amazing to see the number of people doing this in Cochin compared to the other cities.hmm..Is it because we malayalees hate our mane? Come to think of it majority of girls tell me that they just want their hair “silky and straight”. Even after knowing that it damages the root of their hair and not to mention the hair fall..(its so bad that people know that you were in a particular place!) Oh and did I mention the enormous cost of the shampoos and conditioners to maintain your hair this way?
The worst of this technology comes through during the period when your original hair starts sprouting out and half your hair remains straight and the roots starts crumpling up. I fail to understand why majority of the girls here refuse to tie or pull back their hair..to be painfully truthful it looks like your hair has gone through a tornado!! And the vicious cycle of putting chemicals has to be forcefully continued because the window period of your hair returning back to normal seems never ending!
So I would just plainly advice to anyone who has been contemplating to making your hair straight or popularly known in Cochin as “broomstick”,”horse tail”..please think twice!!! And Oh, did I mention that I am a victim to this as well!!!
anyways brush up your ettiquttes and style quotient..You may the next to inspire my column! Have fun!

If you are a resident of Cochin, you might have noticed that the pesky blood suckers have increased in numbers and peskiness with people running haywire to get indoors by 6pm in the evenin so reduce the feirceness of the attack of mosquitoes in Cochin. Indoors offer little respite though with these mosquitoes getting immune to every trick in the book like mosquitoe coils, mats, gels and more recently repellent body gels and even the sporty and trendy mosquito killer tennis bats.

I have decided to rename All-Out, a popular brand of liquid based mosquito repellent, to “Aal Out” (aal means people in Malayalam) because its’ smell repels the humans in the room than the mosquitoes it is intended for. Recently a newspaper in cochin published this photo which isthe reality of the ground zero condition.

I have seen issues like water, power, ram temple and other issues for election season, can someone please initiate a Anti-Mosquito Campiagn for Elections next time please!
