A ‘kettuvallam’ (houseboat) bridge in Marine Drive

Marine Drive is perhaps one of the most iconic places in our fast changing city scape whose existence can be traced back from the  times of old movies in Malayalam.

Cochin Corporation recognizes the potential of the Marine Drive and has taken many steps in the recent past about beautification of the walk way, more lightings and musical path ways and two bridges – a rainbow bridge and a chinese fishing net bridge.

Now a third bridge in the form of a “kettuvellam” or houseboat will be another bridge for us to enjoy the sunset, the evening walks and of course take pictures in!

The bridge, which will be over the railway canal near KINCO jetty, is expected to be commissioned within an year at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.91 Crores.

   Whoz gonna construct it, kerala govt ,cochin corporation or GCDA ???

   The idea is excellent.
   Though it will attract tourists, measures to be taken to keep Kochi clean by proper wsate disposal.
   The jumbling of traffic and not so well maintained area does not give a beautiful view of lake when viewed from the marine drive road.
   Something eye catching to be made as land mark to attract touristas wellas locals.
