6th India International Aqua Show (IIAS) 2012 will be held from today 6 pm at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, Cochin. Colourful ornamental fishes will be the stars of attraction of this 5 days long event which concludes on 14th February. 120 exhibition stalls have been set and there will be representations from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal. There will be event some foreign representations of fishes from the US, Singapore, Malaysia and Maldives. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate this event and Fisheries and agricultural minister of Maldives Ibrahim Didi would be the chief guest of this wonderful event. Apart from exhibition, there will be seminars to discuss Kerala’s potential as an ornamental fish exporting state, to be inaugurated by Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi on 11th February.
Actress kavya Madhavan will be the brand ambassador for IIAS. This event will feature a host of cultural programmes including a performance by Odissi dancer Ranjana gaur, Bharatnatyam by Shobhana, African acrobatics and UV light show. The five-day event will bring together exhibitors, breeders and traders for a buyer-seller meet which will present the export potential of Kerala as an ornamental fish producer. IIAs 2012 is being organized by the state department of fisheries through the state Fisheries Management Society (FIRMA) in association with the ministry of agriculture. Kerala Aqua Ventures International ltd (KAVIL) and National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) will also take part in this show.
